Ultradent Opalescence Boost Whitening is unique in a few ways. Some of the key features that make it stand out from other whitening treatments include:
These features make Opalescence whitening a popular and effective choice for people looking for a professional teeth whitening solution. It’s always recommended to consult with our Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Mahsa Esfandiari, to determine if Opalescence whitening is the best option for you and what course of treatment is best for you.
Both Zoom and Opalescence Boost are professional teeth whitening systems offered by Dr. Mahsa Esfandiari. The main difference between the two is the method of activation: Zoom uses a special light to activate the whitening gel, while Opalescence Boost is chemically activated.
Benefits of Zoom include:
Benefits of Opalescence Boost include:
Ultimately, the best choice between Zoom and Opalescence Boost depends on individual needs and preferences. It’s best to consult with Dr. Esfandiari to determine which system is best for you.
Opalescence Boost in-office teeth whitening relies on chemical activation rather than the use of lights or lasers. Research has indicated that the whitening agent utilized in Opalescence Boost is highly effective without the need for any external light or laser activation. The treatment requires two to three 20-minute applications.
The unique double-syringe mixing system of the Opalescence Boost teeth whitening gel ensures a fresh supply of the whitening agent for each application. The chemical activation eliminates the need for refrigeration prior to mixing, making it a convenient solution in our Los Gatos office.
The application of the Opalescence Boost teeth whitening gel is made easy with the Black Mini™ tip, as its thick consistency prevents it from running. The noticeable red color of the gel also assists in precise placement and efficient removal. Additionally, the whitening gel contains a minimum of 20% water content, ensuring patient comfort and preventing dehydration.
The Opalescence Boost gel contains PF (potassium nitrate and fluoride) as they offer several benefits for dental health and comfort during the whitening process.
Potassium nitrate is a mild anesthetic that helps to reduce tooth sensitivity during the whitening process. It works by blocking the nerve impulses that cause tooth sensitivity, allowing you to achieve a brighter and whiter smile without discomfort.
Fluoride, on the other hand, helps to strengthen the enamel and improve the overall health of your teeth. It also helps to reduce the risk of cavities and tooth decay, which can often result from the increased exposure to tooth sensitivity during teeth whitening treatments.
Including PF in teeth Opalescence Boost products provides both an improved whitening experience and improved dental health, making it an important ingredient for Boost whitening system.
After the Opalescence Boost whitening treatment, Dr. Esfandiari recommends to avoid food and drinks that can cause staining, such as coffee, tea, red wine, and dark-colored fruits and juices for at least 24 hours. Additionally, it is advised to avoid smoking and use of tobacco products. To maintain the results of the treatment, she also recommends to brush and floss regularly and visit our Los Gatos office for regular cleanings and exams. In order to avoid tooth sensitivity, she recommends to use a sensitivity toothpaste for a few days after the treatment and avoid extremely hot or cold foods and drinks. If you experience any discomfort or sensitivity, it is best to consult with Dr. Esfandiari.
The Opalescence Boost whitening system consists of a chemically activated formula that provides rapid results. However, it must be noted that whitening works differently for each patient. For example, younger patients generally get whitening results much quicker than older people. Similarly, the time required for whitening also depends on the severity of the teeth stains; the more the stains, the longer it will take to remove them. However, the manufacturer (Ultradent) claims one can achieve dramatic results with Opalescence whitening in a single sitting of less than an hour!
The unique bleaching formula of the Boost teeth whitening system ensures that your whitening results remain effective for a long duration. However, the stability of your whitening results also depends on various factors, most importantly, your oral hygiene maintenance routine. For example, if you look after your oral hygiene through brushing and flossing, you can expect your whitening results to last longer and not have to undergo a whitening procedure frequently. So, in short, teeth whitening should be repeated when your teeth start to get stains again. However, it must not be considered a substitute for regular oral hygiene measures such as brushing and flossing.
The Opalescence teeth whitening system comprises either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide as the active bleaching agent. These chemicals quickly release oxygen molecules in the oral environment, which act on the enamel surface to chemically dissolve the teeth stains. Carbamide peroxide is among the most commonly used bleaching agents in whitening formulas worldwide and has been proven effective. So, rest assured that your in-office whitening with the Opalescence Boost kit will provide outstanding results in just one sitting for most teeth stains. However, multiple sittings may be needed for heavily stained teeth to achieve optimal results.
While the bleaching agent used in zoom teeth whitening and Opalescence Boost is the same – carbamide peroxide – the main difference between these two is that zoom uses a blue LED light to activate the bleaching agent. The manufacturers of zoom teeth whitening believe that light energy accelerates the process of formation of oxygen molecules from the bleaching agent, which results in enhanced teeth whitening. On the other hand, the manufacturers of the Opalescence Boost whitening system have shown through various research studies that a light source is not essential for effective teeth whitening. Besides, the Boost system contains potassium phosphate and fluoride (PF), which protect the teeth from damage during in-office whitening.
It is a common misconception that teeth will become sensitive after a teeth whitening procedure. This is not correct, especially in the case of in-office teeth whitening systems. However, the same cannot be said about specific at-home whitening formulas containing substandard ingredients or very high concentrations of bleaching agents, causing long-term tooth sensitivity and increasing the risk of tooth decay.
On the other hand, professional, in-office whitening systems such as the Opalescence Boost system are safe for whitening teeth despite the higher concentration of bleaching agents in them. Why? There are two reasons for that. First, Dr. Esfandiari is trained to use high-concentration bleaching agents without harming the gums or cheeks or making your teeth sensitive. Secondly. The Opalescence whitening formulaic contains enamel-protective ingredients such as potassium phosphate and fluoride. Both these ingredients remineralize the teeth and make them resistant to sensitivity and tooth decay. So, with Opalescence Boost and our experienced dentists, you are in safe hands!
If you are considering in-office teeth whitening, you should choose Opalescence Boost as your whitening formula. Why? Because this formula is both safe and effective. Being the leader in the teeth whitening industry, Opalescence offers a wide range of in-office and at-home whitening systems that provide excellent results in just a single sitting. Besides, the sticky, viscous composition of the whitening gel ensures that it does not overflow and damage the oral soft tissues such as the gums, cheeks, and lips. Furthermore, as an added protection mechanism, the manufacturers of Opalescence Boost have added phosphate and fluoride (PF) ions to the formula. Both these ions have been shown to strengthen the dental enamel, thereby preventing long-term tooth sensitivity and decay. That is why, we at Dr. Mahsa Esfandiari Dental Group use opalescence whitening as the formula of choice for our patients.
